That's what a group of doctors in Belgium is calling what parents who make their children vegan are exposing them to. The Royal Academy of Medicine of Belgium published a legal opinion Thursday that could influence future court judgements.
"It is unethical to subject children to the diet because it does not include animal proteins and vital amino acids that help growth and prevent health problems," the physicians said. "A vegan diet should only be made safe for children if it is complemented with medical supervision, regular blood tests and vitamin supplements, which most vegan parents are not qualified to provide."
Why would you feed your baby such a diet if it has to be medically supervised and requires needles to be stuck regularly in the kid? Seriously, why? "We must explain to the parents before compelling them, but we can no longer tolerate this endangerment," said Prof. George Casimir, who led the commission that wrote the report.
Someone better tell that to Harry's wife, Meghan. Apparently, she is planning to raise their kid vegan.
"We are talking here about stunted growth and psychomotor delays, under-nutrition and significant anemia," he continued. In 2017, a Belgian couple was given a six-month jail term after its seven-month-old baby died of malnutrition and dehydration, blamed by doctors on the parents' choice to only feed it vegetable "milk".
So, Harry --, a red-blooded Brit who regularly kills and eats things -- has married a woman who only eats plants.
