Who's he kidding?

Do people actually believe Trudeau will achieve carbon/neutral by 2050?  Mercifully, he'll be long gone by then, but the guy hasn't achieved one emmisions' target he has set since he started announcing them, beginning with the ludicrous Paris Accord.  That, my friends, was nothing but a photo op.

He might as well declare we'll be a net zero by next year, I mean why not?!  Sadly, many people are fooled by this dunce.

Trudeau has been there for six years and has done nothing he had promised to do.  "I'm gonna do this and I'm gonna do that," he screams.  Well, why haven't you!!??  Now they're duking it out on the animal cruelty file.  Really??  Instead of doing what he could have for Canadians on so many fronts, he was traipsing around the world trying to get a useless temporary seat on the UN Security Council.  For what??!!  The UN is a joke.

The guy has no clue about finance, fiscal or monetary policy.  Just swans around taking selfies and being a sad embarrassment on the international stage.

He HAS to go.

A real gift

A few years ago, when I was still able to push a vacuum around, I took a fit about having to do it.  "I am so sick of this, I won't do it anymore and I don't care if our place looks like a dump!" I raved.

With that, I stepped out the front door for some reason -- must have been divine intervention -- and saw a darling woman putting a vacuum cleaner and other stuff in her trunk at our neighbour's place.  "Hi, do you work for T.J?" I asked.  "Yes, I do.  I clean his place every two weeks."  I jumped.  "Can you clean our place?" I begged.

And so I found my angel, Marie-Tess.

The first time she came with a partner and they took five hours to clean our place.  That's 10 hours of cleaning!  And I thought our place was relatively clean!  Guess not.  They moved furniture, cleaned every book in every bookcase, swabbed it, polished it, scrubbed it, waxed it, polished it -- you name it, they cleaned it.  That was the best $500 I had spent in many years.  After that, she came every two weeks and my house was spotless.

I was very happy.

When we moved to Cochrane, she kept coming.  After the move, she unpacked 45 boxes, broke them down and got everything ready to take to recycling.  Today, she was here for the second time since the move and finished unpacking everything.  After two trips in a fully-loaded car to the recycling, she said, "Now I am going to clean your place."  What??!!??!!!  And she did.

How can I have found an angel like that woman who helps me move, unpack and clean?!  She has been sent by God, I am convinced, but I pay her very well so I remain her best client.  Oh, and did I mention she is only 40, has five kids (the youngest two) and two grandkids?  Oh, and did I also mention she sings while she works?  The most wonderful woman I have met in this line, or any other.

I must also tell you that her heritage and culture are not Canadian.  She is from the Philippines and that tells you about her work ethnic.  I have had many cleaners over the years and the Canadian ones are the worst.  Culture, culture, culture.  That's the story.

Our culture?!

So, the minister of women (or something), Maryam Monsef, reached out to the Taliban, calling them "our brothers".  WTF?!  Of course, she is from Afghanistan, so is part of the problem -- not the solution.

She went on to clarify that..."in our culture, we call each other brother and sister."  See, Maryam, that's the problem.  You live in Canada and are a Minister of the Crown, so your "culture" is not in Afghanistan.  It's here.  It's in Canada.  She's another female that should be fired, along with Hadju, Freeland, Tam and a bunch of others.  But our "feminist" PM will never do it.  Never.

Guess she forgot that Canada has officially declared the Taliban a terrorist entity.  They are not our "brothers", Maryam.  The problem is that she, along with others, bring their "culture" to Canada.  This is wrong.  I mean, sure, have cultural festivals, but do not try to twist our official Canadian culture into yours. And by the way, Maryam, Canadians should not know the religion of a secular politician or minister.  This is the principle of the separation of Church and State, but thanks to your gaffs, we know you are a Muslim.  We must not.  Same goes for Singh.

Frankly, I am getting sick of the whole mess in Afghanistan.  Canada knew this was going to happen, yet did nothing.  And why did people flock there in the first place?  Now they can't get out and expect the rest of us to jump in and save them.  I think the military is sabotaging Trudeau for his mess with all the sex charges.  He's getting it back in spades.

So far, Canada has managed to get about 2,000 people out of Afghanistan.  Not quite the 21,000 they promised.  No, about 19,000 short.  Great job!  Canada has been destroyed.  It's so sad for our grandchildren.

This will do the opposite

"The moral culpability of an African Nova Scotian offender has to be assessed in the context of historic factors and systemic racism."

That's what a chief justice of Justice Anne Derrick of the Nova Scotia Court of Appeal ruled in a recent case.  WTF!!??  Doesn't the law apply equally to all?  Isn't Justice blindfolded?!  Guess not.  Guess she peeked out from under her blindfold on this one.

This is wrong and instead of checking racism, will actually encourage it.  Afterall, such arguments will prompt offenders to cite it at every turn.  Of course, the lawyer for the offender in question, Roger Burrill, applauded it.  "I think it's impactful (not a word, by the way) for the whole country on the basis that systemic racism is completely, totally, unequivocally recognized as a factor in dealing with the principles of sentencing," Burrill said.

The Criminal Lawyers' Association also applauded the move.  "There has been a history of slavery, a history of segregation in this country all of which has (sic) contributed to many challenges they face today," said VP Daniel Brown.  The offender had been sentenced to two years for illegal firearms possession -- a light sentence, in my view, because, hello!, the firearm was illegal.

Courts across the country have been outspoken on the importance of deterrence and tough sentences in gun crimes.  In this case, the prosecutor wanted three years in a federal penitentiary, but Provincial Court Chief Justice Pamela Williams, balked.  So he only got two, but because he is Black, even this is too harsh.

How does this deter crime?  It doesn't.

Here's a real doozy:  Social workers  testified that gun possession was an accepted cultural norm in the North End of Halifax, where the offender resided, surrounded by poverty and crime.  What a complete crock!  What is happening to this country?!

Chief Justice Williams said she had "spent many hours agonizing over a just sentence."  It was also pointed out that the offender, a father of four young children, was not a good candidate for for rehabilitation because he had done little to address his education and training deficits while his case was before the court.  So, what was his sentence?  Attend Afrocentric therapy to address trauma, attend literacy and education programs and perform community service.

His poor kids.  They're effed.

And let's not forget, the 1996 Criminal Code provision singling out Indigenous offenders for more lenient treatment has not stemmed an increase in the prison populations.  Natives now make up 31.5% of federal prisoners, in spite of the fact they are only five percent of the population.  So, that was another f-ck-up.

(For how well the Indigenous People's Court is working, see "Not working", Feb. 1, 2021.)  Spoiler alert, it's not.

Finally, some reality

Ian Lee, director of the Sprott School of Management at Carleton, has pointed out that even if we did nothing else but convert to non-carbon energy, it would still be 2050 at the very earliest that conversion could happen.

He pointed out that every electrical grid and pole in the entire country would have to be torn down and replaced.  He also stated that this could only happen if every city and province in Canada downed tools for every other activity and did nothing else.

"We are dependent on carbon and oil products, it's that simple."  He's right, of course, but unfortunately the "greenies" have no clue about what they sprout.  And for votes, the politicians keep promising them the moon.

People are so misguided and dumb.

Will this be the only issue?

It seems the Liberals are trying to light upon a reason for this election -- other than that they want a majority, which I doubt and hope will be denied them.  What's the first thing they have done?  Plug the abortion issue, claiming that O'Toole is anti, even while he claims to be pro-choice.

This is what doomed Scheer last time 'round.  Since it worked then, they hope it will again.  The whole issue is fraught because leaders are flopping around being pro-choice for women, but allowing doctors to follow their consciences and refuse the procedure.  However, even if refusing, they must refer patients to another doctor who will perform it.  What a mess.

Other than that, climate change seems to be the only other issue, but again, that's a confusing mess because no one seems to agree on whether it's happening or not?!  Very bizarre election.

Last week, Trudeau had to sneak into Alberta to support a doomed Liberal candidate at a rally here.  No one knew he was coming because had they, someone might have assassinated him, that's how deeply he is hated in Alberta. Have to agree, I support the sentiment.

And didn't you love his comments about not discussing monetary policy!  "Forgive me if I don't talk about monetary policy, I'm focused on families."  What an idiot!  Monetary policy is what affects the economy and thus families.  So many "duhs" with this ignoramus.

Read that there is a backlog of 82,000 complaints in the US about sexual abuse by boy scout leaders.  Tragic, but no surprise there.  If you want to abuse boys, become a scout leader.

An epidemiologist writing in 'The Globe and Mail' today talked about the value of the yellow vaccine booklets we all had in the fifties, sixties and seventies.  I have blogged about this before and remember mine, which I carried with my passport to every country I visited.  Now, apparently, such proof-of-vaccine is deemed an invasion of privacy.  Complete poppycock.  What is wrong with people?!  What is wrong with our "leaders"?

And again, why is Tam still employed!!??!!!

Another word about grave digging.  Four more sites are to be exhumed in Alberta, presumably to find graves.  Of course they will find them, but for people like Jagmeet Singh to continue to claim these children were "killed" is unconscionable.  As I have said, they died of diseases rampant at the time, before vaccines.  Nevertheless, it is another kick at the pinata money bags.  Doesn't she look smug and victorious.  Guess facts don't matter when money is the prize.

It's even worse than we thought

A friend sent me this.  It's very depressing, but here it is:

____________________________

Trudeau 4 years of Accomplishments

By Howie Mandel

Here’s a list:

·        -Your minister of finance engaged in insider trading – should be a 10-year sentence.

·        -You blew the Asia Pacific deal.

·        -You blew the helicopter deal with the Philippines.

·        -You blew the pipeline deal (he's now trying to save himself from it).

·        -You blew the deal with China.

·        -You blew the deal with Europe.

·        -You invited "irregular" immigration into Canada and the taxpayer foots the enormous bill for it.

·        -You alienated the United States – our largest trading partner.

·        -At the G7 you pledged $400 million to Education around the world along with another $180 million to the Global Partnership for Education in Europe. None of it is going to fix our messed-up school systems here at home. Meanwhile, education costs are skyrocketing for our youth making university a mountain too high for many to climb.

·        -You pledged $241 million to Family Planning around the world including a $20 million donation to the Bill and Hillary Clinton Foundation (because they have integrity!). This all happened while you told veterans that they were asking for too much.

·        -You pledged $2.65 billion to climate change at the Commonwealth Leaders Summit and now you’re trying to bully the provinces into new taxes to pay for this pledge.

·        -You pledged $300 million to the Rohingya Refugee crisis while we have a refugee crisis of our own flooding into Quebec that you won't address.

·        -You pledged $125 million to Caribbean Reconstruction while our own infrastructure in cities is falling apart.

·        -You pledged $650 million to Sexual and Reproductive health in Haiti and around the globe wanting safer abortions for women while many women in our own country are left without a family doctor.

·        -You pledged $50 million to Palestine for flood relief when NB had some of the worst floods in decades this past spring.

·        -You pledged $840 million to Syria for Humanitarian Assistance when half the native reserves in our country don't have clean drinking water.

·        -You gave $10.5 million to a convicted...CONVICTED terrorist in a backroom deal that has led to another $30.8 million paid out for three others who say they were wrongfully detained.

·        -You spent $4.5 billion on a 65-year-old pipeline, and now the courts have ruled it shut down. Now it's back on (at a delay cost of $250 million) - a good investment for Canada you said? (And KM uses that money to build a pipeline in Texas)

·        -You pressured Jody Wilson Raybould repeatedly & INAPPROPRIATELY with several different high-ranking officials to offer SNC Lavalin a DPA instead of prosecution for repeated & sustained corruption AFTER the former AG had determined they were ineligible for such a deal. You lied about the above having ever taken place.

·        -You replaced Canada’s old F-18s with Australia’s old F-18s.

·        -Your bizarre love of all things Castro.

·        -You imposed tough regulations and taxes on oil from Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Newfoundland but not oil from Saudi Arabia.

·        -Every new project has to undergo strict environmental assessments...except cement plants in Quebec.

·        -You said that a proposed pipeline must consider “the intersection of sex and gender with other identity factors” (what does that even mean???)

·        -You think older Canadians should be replaced. How is -that moral?

·        -You chase foreign companies (and their investment capital) out of the country like they have the plague.

·        -You chased our WW1 soldiers out of our national anthem... lest we forget.

·        -You continuously use identity politics...then complain about identity politics.

·        -You forgot Alberta was a province.

·        -You called small business owners “tax cheats”.

·        -People voice concern over money spent on illegal immigration and you call them intolerant racists.

·        -We have an equalization program, but you give half of it to one province.

·        -You spent $8 million on a skating rink (vanity project) when Canada's largest skating rink is 500 meters -away.

·        -You added tens of billions to the national debt while lying to Canada's face about it.

·        -You groped a woman and when caught - laughed about it (MacLean's interview) and said she experienced it differently.

·        -You elbowed a female MP while dragging another MP by the arm in a petulant huff.

·        -You renamed Fishermen to "Fisher-folk"

·        -People kind? (International embarrassment)

·        -You got India to invest $250 million in Canada but we have to invest $750 million in India first.

·        -You compared returning ISIS terrorists to Italian immigrants and said they will be an extraordinarily powerful voice for Canada.

·        -You let terrorists keep their Canadian citizenship.

·        -You spent $212,234 on the artwork for the cover of the 2017 budget report.

·        -You think Canada is 100 years old instead of 150.

·        -You spent upwards to $348,000 on food and alcohol in five flights on our government’s plane. On your G20 trip to Argentina, you spent $103,000 on food and alcohol alone. How is that even possible?

·        -You gave Canadian taxpayers' money to Hamas.

·        -You voice outrage over fake racist attacks and say nothing about real terrorist attacks.

·        -You took 10 vacations in a single year. Who does this??

·        -You spent a little over $1.5 million on the trip to India that did nothing but worsen ties. Plus paid over $17,000 to bring an Indian chef to India to cook Indian cuisine and to top it off, invited a convicted attempted assassin to a dinner and posed for pics with him.

·        -And you’re the only PM convicted of ethics violations. (Multiple times in fact)

·        -You allegedly destroyed the career of one of Canada’s honest military leaders to cover up possible massive government corruption in shipbuilding contracts.

·        -You invited Joshua Boyle, an alleged perpetrator of sexual assault and unlawful confinement for a photoshoot in the Office of the Prime Minister.

·        -You threaten to sue the leader of the opposition then chickened out when you realized that your alleged crimes would be exposed in court.

·        -You offer over $600 million dollars in subsidies to failing mainstream media outlets if they can prove to be trustworthy. You put a union who vows to destroy your opposition in charge of selecting these new “trusted” sources to receive funding. You could school the Russians in election interference.

·        -You pay off your friends to engage in election ads for you and get Elections Canada to pay for it.

·        -$200 million to Loblaws for new refrigerators.

·        -You made public statements of deep admiration for Chinese communism.

·        -You wore preposterous, inappropriate costumes during a state visit to India, paid for by Canadians.

·        -You were instrumental in handing WE almost $1 billion for work that could be done by regular already established operations...your mother and brother received over $300,000 from WE for short speeches that normally do not receive payment.

·
-You have been instrumental in allowing a company with strong communist party ties to perform communications and security work with our embassies.

·        PS Notes from R Burne.

o   Your government’s incompetence and unnecessary delay with the covid 19 vaccine roll out resulted in thousands of lost lives- genocide. Liberal Governments have stymied the research development of Covid type vaccines citing patent issues. Now you announce funding for a vaccine facility, just prior to the election call.

o   You call a senseless and costly election, when the time and effort should be directed to our Health care and Education Systems.

o   Jack Welsh, former CEO of General Electric, quoted in his book " WHERE HAVE ALL THE LEADERS GONE"

What moral, functioning Canadian could possibly justify voting for you??

$25,000

That's apparently what my 2,000 Honda Civic Hatchback could fetch.  I was amazed!  I have had strangers -- mostly young, Asian males -- ask if I wanted to sell it, but I always refuse.  I love that little car.  Because it is a five-speed, it is very desirable to young men who want to soup it up for road racing.

But $25,000?  That surprised me.  Anyway, my dear little car will remain with me for as long as it holds out.

Saw a poll the other day that said that only 7% of Canadians care about native issues.  Seven percent!  Sounds about right to me and thus I continue to wonder why governments -- especially this Liberal one -- continue to pander with nary a thought given to the billions they are handing natives every year to the detriment of the rest of the country and the crippled economy?  In fact, most don't even vote in federal elections.

Further, on a list of Canadians' priorities, native "issues" rank 13th.  So, there you have it.

_________________________

As I have blogged before, Afghanistan was a useless disaster for every country that went in there.  For Canada, it was 13 years and 138 lives.  That's unconscionable and tragic.  In 2009, Stephen Harper gave an interview to Fareed Zakaria in which he said outsiders were never going to win that one and he was right.  He was preparing to extract Canadians three years into his mandate, but the Liberals came in and didn't follow through.

The Brits fought four Anglo/Afghanistan wars there to absolutely no avail.  They were consistently unable to best the Afghans, and neither has anyone else been, including the mighty Russians and Americans, along with the not-so-mighty French.

How would you like to be the family of one of the precious young men or women who died for nothing at the peak of their lives?

One can only hope that federally, we'll have another Nova Scotia and dump this incompetent government because if I have to spend another four years watching Trudeau -- and even worse, that harridan Freeland! -- I'll shoot the TV.

You can't think about it

Joined the beautiful, new pool complex here in Cochrane and went for my first lane swim since moving this morning.  Sailed through the first 20 laps with flawless kick turns, but made the mistake of starting to think about them as I approached the end of the lane.

That's a big mistake.

Naturally, I started flipping wrong and ended up off-to-the-side.  That, of course, made me worse because I concentrated harder and thought more.

Another big mistake.

It's amazing how upset I become for the rest of the day when my forever-sought-after perfection of the kick turn goes awry.  Now, that's all I am thinking about until I venture back tomorrow, when I need to park my brain and refuse to let it operate.

______________________________

So Trudeau has had the nerve to call an election when he has the full confidence of the House.  And the nerve of the new GG, Mary Simon, taking an hour to give her constitutional approval.  I mean, if she were going to sign the writ, why drag it out and pretend you were considering denying him his dissolution?  I light of the fact that all opposition parties had written, assuring her the government still had their confidence, I actually thought, for a split second, that Simon might actually refuse the writ.

Now, that would have been the right, constitutional and ballsy thing to do.

But, of course, she didn't.  So now we will plunge into a $500 million trek to the polls.  What a selfish, egotistical thing to do.  I hope Canadians are pissed off enough at his hubris to deny him his majority.

As for Afghanistan, what a tragic waste of so many lives.  Now, everyone simply leaves while we wait for the Taliban to jam the country back into the middle ages.  Apparently, they are merrily beheading women and anyone who supported the previous government, as they frog-march the country into caves.  I still have no idea what western countries were doing there for 20 years?  Apparently, it was to stop the poppy/heroin trade -- a worldwide losing cause.

The future for women in Afghanistan, covered like animals and criminals.

Cochrane is enveloped in smoke from the BC wildfires, but I won't complain in light of so many who have lost their homes and lived.  However, we are getting rain in the next few days, so that'll help.

Love me, love my dog

No, that's not for me.  When an old and dear friend visited me at the cottage last month, she said she would be bringing another mutual friend -- didn't ask, just announced.  Fine, I thought, although this other friend and I had been estranged for many years.

But when they arrived, out jumped friend # 2's dog!  "You brought your dog!" I exclaimed.  Why would anyone just bring along a dog without asking if it would be OK?  Frankly, it wasn't OK with me.  I would never just bring along a pet to someone's gathering.

"Nancy, you made her cry," said friend # 1.  WTF?!  "She thought because you used to have a dog, you'd be thrilled to meet hers."

No.  The reason I no longer have a dog is because I don't want a dog.  Otherwise I would have bought one when the first died.  When we first moved to Calgary, daughter asked if it would be OK if they brought their dog to our place.  I said no, it would not be OK.  She respected that and her dogs have never been inside our home.

The admonishment from friend # 1 continued when we met for dinner in Ottawa before flying back.  "Look, quit criticizing me for objecting to her dog," I finally snapped.  Apparently, because friend # 2 had battled cancer, everyone was supposed to accept and accommodate anything and everything she did.  Sorry, call me harsh, but I am not like that.

So, I'll love you, but not your dog.

Where to start?!

It's been a whacko month. What with moving to Cochrane and spending a month in Ottawa and Quebec, I am completely discombobulated.

The first thing that hit me when we arrived was that all the federal flags were at half staff (not "half mast", which is reserved for shipping vessels, by the way).  Why, I wondered?  Apparently for the graves of native children recently found.  This is Trudeau pandering and gearing up for his unnecessary election.  As I have said many times, why he panders to the natives is beyond me because most natives do not vote in secular elections.  But every native leader was out in full force on the airwaves decrying everything and anything and demanding more money.

(Note: What was very noticeable was that the flag on the British High Commission offices was not at half staff.  It was flying fully.)

Gawd, will it ever end?!  The natives were just handed another $83 million for?...for?...sorry, I forget.

We had a wonderful time introducing the grands to our old cottage, where their mother and her siblings grew up.  Sadly, stepdaughter and B's grands were at the cottage and in Ottawa while we were and yet she didn't even contact her own father?!  WTF is that about?!  Must be money; we don't have any, (but her mother has tons).

Anyway, here are a few happy snaps of our family:

At the lake, locals actually ride in the boat while it's being towed!  Nuts!
My beautiful family
My son has the Russell fishing gene!

The hummingbirds were everywhere at my feeders.

As for the move, still unpacking.  Can't believe we had 1-800-Got-Junk in twice and still I have scads of things I really don't need.
