What were they doing there and let's talk Zionism

My question is, what were so many Canadians doing in Gaza living as permanent residents?  This always happens.  Canadians-of-convenience de-camp to Middle Eastern countries, such as Lebanon and Libya, and then want the taxpayer to evacuate them when some war or other inevitably breaks out.  Again.

There are now thousands of such "Canadians" wanting a ride back home at our expense.  Did they not know they were living in a powder keg just waiting to explode, as it has so many times for decades?  Rhetorical.

I am just as disgusted and appalled as anyone about the atrocities, but these residents must have known what could happen.  Now that it has, they're in a mess and we're the ones who have to bail them out.  Egypt, by the way, has refused to allow them to enter at its border with Gaza and frankly, I don't blame them.

I asked a retired Canadian army official what he thought.  He compared it to a David and Goliath battle, with Hamas taking on the role of David to elicit sympathy for the  innocent civilians and Palestinians trapped in Gaza, being pulverized in retaliation by Goliath, i.e., Israel.  He believes Hezbollah will get involved and so will Iran, which is when this will become very serious for the entire Middle East.

So, basically the region and the two-state solution is off the table -- thanks to Netanyahu's rigid policies which have kept Gaza's population walled-in and imprisoned for decades.  As I said, I'm surprised it has taken this long to explode.

Watch Gabor Maté on YouTube for an excellent explanation of what has happened.  A Jew, he blames Israel for its displacement and ghetto-izing of the residents of Gaza 45 years ago.  He says that for Israel to build a state, they had to kick thousands from their ancestral homes.  He also recounts the killing and torture of Palestinians by Israel, which has no equal, and the murder of 20,000 Lebanese during that war.

Israel has much blood on its hands, but this is Zionism, not Judaism.  That distinction must be very clear.  In fact, most Orthodox Jews are opposed to what is happening in Gaza.  They support the Palestinians and condemn Zionism, but Netanyahu is parading Judaism to mask his Zionism and people all over the world are buying it.

I'm not.

More insanity

Craziness!

A 97-year-old nun has been charged with sexual assault of a teenage boy when she was teaching in a residential school 78 years ago.

78 years ago!!  For gawd's sake!  This was in Northern Ontario and she is scheduled to appear in court shortly -- if she lives.  More lawyers getting rich.  It's insane!

And speaking of insanity, the feds are giving Alberta $54 million to fight gender violence

$54 million!

Is this to build more shelters for women who are stupid enough to hook up with men they must know in advance are abusive?  Must be.  I'm sick of women running to the government for protection from husbands and boyfriends they stay with knowing these men are potentially -- or actually -- abusive.

Women need to take charge of their own lives and smarten up.

Lives destroyed

Trevor Cadieu, Stephan Whelan and Corey Gelowitz, all military men, have had their lives, reputations and families ruined.  Why?  Because some woman -- who, of course, can't be named -- accused them of sexual assault 30 years ago.

Thirty years ago!!!!

These men, who had served their country for decades, are now forced to live in shame and disgrace.  But here's the kicker:  After nine months of dragging them through the mud, the Crown dropped the cases!

Dropped the cases!!!!  But not before their good names had been pried into and sullied during noisy and ugly investigations and discoveries.

So, the charges were dropped, they were not convicted and yet they have been ruined, all thanks to some female who charged them with unproveable sexual assault.  She gets to remain anonymous, but they don't.  Great job!

Probably at a party like this.

This so-called sexual assault happened at a party, where we all know people get a little overly-friendly after a few pops -- especially in a young, military culture.  Boys will be boys in that environment.  They weren't charged with rape, so what happened?  Probably a little familiar patting, hugging, or dancing.  So what?  But the woman twisted it into assault.

That's disgraceful.

Reminds me of the case of a female NDP MP who charged another with sexual assault a few years ago.  Her name was protected, but the man was outed and also ruined.  He had to resign his seat and slink into the shadows in disgrace.

If women want a little respect, they need to man up and shut up.  Unless it's rape, get over it.  I mean, it was at a boisterous party.  Are some women so weak they can't fend for themselves and tell a guy they're not interested?  Apparently so and 30 years later they get some poor schlep charged.  Why didn't they do it back then?  Because they'd have gotten nowhere.

Shame on them.

Here's another brilliant story.  Two police officers, who were called to a violent altercation at a home in Edmonton three years ago, have been cleared by the Serious Incident Response Team (SIRT) of any wrongdoing.  The problem with this is that these two officers were the ones gunned down and killed by the guy brandishing the firearm.

They were killed, but SIRT still investigated them to see if they had been justified in drawing their weapons before being shot and killed by a guy aiming a gun at them!!!!

Let that sink in!

I have never heard of anything so ridiculous in all my life.  After they were killed, their families had to go through a three-year nightmare of having their loved ones investigated and smeared before being cleared.

The world has gone mad.

Yet another war

Last year, I wrote a blog about the war in Ukraine (see, "Sorry, but..." Feb. 23, 2022) and I wondered about why the airwaves and newspapers were so obsessed with it?  I really had no clue and frankly, still don't?

Now that Hamas has invaded Israel, coverage of that war will be superseded by this latest one.  Again, the Arab/Israeli conflict is so old, it too is boring.  It was actually started by the Brits, when they pulled out of the region in 1948 and handed it over to the Jews to battle with the Palestinians to create their own state.  This, of course, necessitated kicking the latter out of their generational homes, the bloody resentments about which continue to this day.

Ultimately, all wars are about real estate or religion and this one is no different.  Look at Ireland, if you want a western comparison.

(A few years ago, I was seated next to retired Canadian General John de Chastelain at a dinner.  I asked him how he pulled off the peace accord in Ireland and he told me what he could, i.e., unclassified; it was fascinating.  That's the kind of guy you need in this conflict; too bad he's 86.  Another year, at a subsequent dinner, I was seated next to retired Major General Lewis Mackenzie -- another fascinating figure who held me spell-bound about his experiences.  Wasn't I the lucky girl.)

The Israelis, of course, have no one to blame but themselves.  Their aggressive invasion of Gaza and the West Bank over many years has left them vulnerable to such an attack.  Frankly, I'm surprised it didn't happen sooner.  There are 5,000 Palestinians languishing in Israel jails with neither charge, nor counsel.  That'll piss people off.

Shlomo Ben-Ami, former Israeli foreign minister, penned an excellent piece in today's 'Globe and Mail', in which he blames, "The destructive hubris of Benjamin Netanyahu" for the entire mess.  "Sooner or later, Netanyahu's destructive political magic, which has kept him in power for 15 years, was bound to usher in a major tragedy.

"A year ago, he formed the most radical and incompetent government in Israel's history.  By ruling out any political process for Palestinians and boldly asserting, in his government's binding guidelines, that 'the Jewish people have an exclusive and inalienable right to all parts of the land of Israel', Mr. Netanyahu's government made bloodshed inevitable," writes Ben-Ami.

"He was blinded to the Palestinian volcano beneath his feet and his hubris has met it's nemesis in the form of Hamas's brutality.  He paid his coalition partners any price for their support.  He let them grab Palestinian lands, expand illegal settlements, scorn Muslim sensibilities regarding the sacred mosques on the Temple Mount, and promote suicidal delusions about the reconstruction of the biblical Temple in Jerusalem.  This itself could be the mother of all Muslim Jihads.

"Mr. Netanyahu's machine of poisonous political disinformation is already at work disseminating a conspiracy theory according to which leftist army officers were responsible for the negligence that led to this dirty war."

So, that's the take by a guy who knows and I agree with him.  Not one other leader or newspaper columnist has done anything but praise and defend Israel.  Not one gives the reasons behind the war, as Ben-Ami does -- reasons which should be obvious.

The tit-for-tatism will now continue, as Israeli and Palestinian families are murdered in the streets and in their homes in brazen displays of brutality and open carnage.

My best friend at Carleton was a Jewish girl who emigrated to Israel the summer after we graduated.  She married an Israeli and raised a family.  We have kept sporadically in touch over the years, but now, I'm afraid to email her in case she has been killed.

(Update:  I just heard back from Judy and she says they are OK so far, but that things are heating up in the north, where she lives.  She also said they are staying home, schools closed and are wholly dependent on the army and air force for their safety.)

It's all so senseless, but just try to dislodge the Israelis out of the West Bank now.  Can't be done and the slaughter on both sides will continue until....until.....the next time.

Oh well, at least we'll have new coverage of another war for a while.  How the land of Jesus has been desecrated.

I'm blaming Martin Cooper

Cooper was the inventor of the first hand-held cellphone back in 1973, when he was at Motorola, and I'm blaming him for the worldwide crisis in illegal migration.

I have been trying to figure out why illegals have ballooned over the years?  I mean, South American, African and South Asian countries have been sh-tholes forever, so why have so many millions decided to risk everything -- even the lives of their children -- pick up and leave their homelands for what they think are greener pastures?

It's because of cellphones.

These people formerly lived for generations in ignorance -- not blissful, but ignorance nonetheless.  They had no idea there were other places with much better living conditions.

Until, that is, everyone got hold of a cellphone and figured it out.  Geez, what am I doing living in squalor when I can click a button and see that all I have to do is walk, or squeeze onto a rickety boat, and I'll end up in Britain, Canada or the US?!

Illegal migration

So, that's what they did and continue to do by the millions.  The fact that Canada and other destination countries continue to let them in and house them is an abdication of nationhood that should never be practiced.  Countries have borders for a reason and these borders must be respected and guarded.

I have listened to countless "experts" trying to explain the drastic increases in illegal migration.  None pulls it off.  They all talk about economic, criminal and political issues, but those have been there for centuries.  No, it's only in the last few years that cellphones have become ubiquitous which means that any old farmer or sheepherder in Timbuk2 can now click a button and make an escape plan.

That's why.

Worth a read -- but not if you are politically correct

Look Who’s Bashing Columbus

Re-printed from 'The Catholic League' newsletter, sent to me by an American reader of my blog.  Should be required reading by all Liberal politicians and Indigenous leaders (italics are mine):

We live in a time when some politicians think it is perfectly acceptable to allow a baby who survives a botched abortion to die unattended by medical staff. All across the nation, child abuse in the schools is rampant—we are telling young kids they can switch their sex as quickly as they can turn on a light switch, offering puberty blockers and chemical castration to get the job done. Moreover, they can do so behind the backs of their parents, with the approval of the National Education Association.

We have just come off a respiratory illness that killed over one million Americans and yet we are now legalizing marijuana—while continuing an “anti-cigarette” campaign in the schools. Students are now coming to school stoned. We are allowing, even enabling, people from other countries to crash our borders, bringing untold amounts of fentanyl with them.

Our cities are run by politicians who rescue cats and dogs from extremely cold weather while allowing mentally-ill human beings to freeze to death on the sidewalks, all in the name of civil liberties. Crime is out of control and there is no accountability for even violent crimes. The homeless defecate in the streets, harass passersby, and demand that their “rights” be protected.

And these same politicians have the audacity to pretend that they come to the table with their hands clean, insisting we either erase Columbus from history or demonize him, all the while romanticizing so-called Indigenous peoples. It’s enough to make any sane American (or Canadian) who knows anything about history reach for the vomit bag.

Native Americans did not originate in America: they migrated here from Asia.  (How long have I been saying this!?  In fact, I am going to coin my own phrase for the Indigenous.  I'm going to call them Earlier Settlers from now on.) The idea that they lived in some kind of Garden of Eden—living peacefully—until the white boys showed up is pure poppycock. The fact is there is nothing noble about the “noble savage.” Indeed, he is more savage than noble.

Harvard professor Steven Pinker, who is not a victim of political correctness, describes what life was like throughout most of history.

“Cruelty as entertainment, human sacrifice to indulge superstition, slavery as a labor-saving device, conquest as the mission statement of government, genocide as a means of acquiring real estate, torture and mutilation as routine punishment, the death penalty for misdemeanors and differences of opinion, assassination as the mechanism of political succession, rape as the spoils of war, pogroms as outlets for frustration, homicide as the major form of conflict resolution—all were unexceptionable features of life for most of human history.”

What about Indigenous peoples? Pinker concludes that they “were far more violent than our own.” He cites the work of noted anthropologists who learned of “population-wide rates of death in tribal warfare that dwarf those of modern times.” Harvard historian Bernard Bailyn agreed, saying, they did not live in a “terribly peaceful world.” In fact, “They were always involved in warfare.”

None of this is to excuse any wrongdoing by Europeans—many of them were just as vicious. But it is to say that we need to get over our childlike image of Native Americans and stop with the Columbus bashing. It makes no sense morally or historically, and this is doubly so for those who come to the table today with filthy hands.

$117,566

Expensive cleaning.

That's how much the disastrous Mary Simon has spent on dry cleaning since being appointed governor general in 2018.  How in Gawd's name can anyone do that??!!

Checking with a professional cleaner, Majestic, the company said that would be enough to dry clean 13,831 blouses, 6,204 dresses or 3,918 duvets.  Holy sh-t!  Rideau Hall actually has in-house dry cleaning facilities, but she still sent stuff out to the tune of $117,566.  That's $1,800 every month since she crashed the Hall!  Does she routinely spill that much beef wellington and champagne on her blouses?

She needs to get the boot like her predecessor Julie Payette.  Between the two of them, they billed taxpayers $88,000 for clothes!  Whether it's feasting on gourmet meals on planes, spending a fortune on limo services in Iceland -- why did Simon go there anyway? -- staying in the finest hotels, or buying bespoke clothing, this GG has absolutely no problem bilking the taxpayer.

The main question is, of course, why an Indigenous woman, with anti-colonialism baked into her DNA for generations, would even accept the job of governor general -- a job in which she is the representative of the very pinnacle of colonialism:  The Crown.  I guess the beef wellington and imperious perks were too good to forego in favour of integrity.  It's evident neither the right nor left sides of her brain are engaged honestly.

Residential school grad Wab Kinew

Another Indigenous is in the news today.  Wab Kinew and the NDP have trounced Heather Stefanson and the Conservatives in Manitoba.  Kinew is now the premier and the first Indigenous to hold the post.  Congratulations are due!  Do you think he ever would have succeeded had he not attended school?  Rhetorical.

Delving into his background, I see he has a white mother and a native father, which he says will help him manage the province.  Of course, the natives are wild with joy because he campaigned on a promise to launch a futile, multi-million dollar search of a Winnipeg landfill for the remains of two native women who were murdered and dumped there.  (We're not allowed to ask what they were doing on the streets in the wee hours when they were murdered, but we can take a wild guess.)  All this while the province's finances and health care are in tatters.

That's a dumb idea, but it's the only thing on the minds of the natives who supported him.  Naturally, the always-offended-and-shrill Tanya Talaga is pushing this hard.  Tanya writes as though she is the embodiment of all things Indigenous, but in reality she is half Polish and raised in downtown Toronto.  That inconvenient truth she never mentions, however, because it would spoil her narrative and expose her inauthentic embellishments.

Sigh....nothing changes and the Indigenous agenda remains fixed in stone:  Me, me, me and to heck with the rest of the country.  I hope Kinew tries to govern for all Manitobans, not just the native variety.
