My old friend and mother of the late Matthew Perry, Suzanne Langford (Perry, Morrison), looks absolutely destroyed and hollowed out. Watched a YouTube of the Morrison family talking about the death of Perry on the first anniversary of his demise.
I was shocked! She is actually a year younger than I! Haggard doesn't even begin to describe her despondent condition. Frankly, I blame Matthew's money, which allowed him to continue his drug use even after many stints in rehab. Normal folks can't go back because they have no money; Matthew's ability to return to drugs killed him. And it destroyed his family.
They have started the Matthew Perry Foundation to help other addicts. "Matthew was a shining example for so many," said his sister. I would not call him a shining example. He relapsed and died.
She is a shell of her former, beautiful self -- the girl and best friend I knew so many years ago at Lisgar Collegiate in Ottawa. We were inseparable and had so many laughs, made so many memories and kept in touch. But when I saw her on the screen, I was heartbroken. She is absolutely shattered. Will she ever recover? I doubt it, but hope so for the sake of her four other children and grandchildren.
I tried to get in touch, but she has changed her number. I also reached out to her sister, but she told me Suzanne didn't want to talk to anyone. Even me? That shocked me, but I have to respect it. Lots of love to my old friend.
