....and has been for five years. I'm talking about Margaret Sinclair/Trudeau/Kemper/Trudeau, who once again inhabits 24 Sussex in the person of her dangerous son. I knew her when her kids and mine went to Rockcliffe Park Public. Well, not really "knew", but would bump into at various functions and on numerous sports pitches.
She was -- and evidently remains -- completely incapable of self-awareness, totally self-absorbed, phony and as thick as a post. Just like her offspring. Her narcissism, like his, is breathtaking. The only trouble is, he's running a country! Sorry, scratch that. He was elected by an uninformed mob to run a country, but is failing utterly.
This all hit me when I caught a few minutes of her inane blather on 'Q' yesterday morning. Hearing the artificial, phony laugh and breathless voice I knew it was Trudeau, but when she described herself as a "feminist", I nearly drove off the road. A feminist! Are you kidding me!
Here's a woman who has never earned a legitimate cent in her life (See March 11/16, "It's getting a little old"). Born into an upper-middle-class existence in Vancouver, she marries Trudeau, then traps poor, delusional Freid Kemper, spends all their money for the rest of her life and then has the nerve to call herself a feminist?! It's unconscionable.
Here's hoping the next probable First Lady, Jill Biden, fares better, but first she'll have to lose that hairdo. Here it is:
She is too old for such a look -- but then again, so is every woman who can't let go of the candy-cane image they cultivated in their twenties. I mean, Jill's 69, for Gawd's sake! Pushing a desperate, dyed-blonde facade even into your late thirties is fruitless. (Step-daughter, mid-forties, take heed.) But Jill's an English teacher and intends to keep working, so kudos on that file. She has also founded other organizations of note, so lose the hair. It doesn't go with your accomplished persona.
