"We will not be pushed aside during this election campaign," stated Perry Bellegarde, AFN chief. The only place Bellegarde will be pushed is into a teller's line at a cash wicket in the bank. What more do natives want? They do nothing for the millions they get every year -- and are accountable for none of it -- and still think the election should be all about them.
Please.
Here's another goodie: After six years of local and provincial negotiating, consulting and planning for the badly-needed Springbank Dam here to mitigate flooding, Chief Lee Crowchild of the Tsuut'ina band in the vicinity just announced he doesn't like it. Why? Because. Here's a guy who waited for six years, saying nothing while bags of money were spent trying to figure it out with more consultation than you could shake a stick at, and then pronounces he "doesn't like it".
What an unproductive thing to do. Now what? Guess it's back to the drawing board.....or something......
I have decided Canada is a land of apologies, compensation and the handing out of money to whoever feels slighted or hard-done-by. We don't actually do or create anything. We're a country of people who do each other's laundry. Instead of creating wealth, we just exchange the same old dollars, sprinkling more to anyone and everyone while we're at it.
Sad.
